This FOOLSFEST

On October 31, 2010 I started my seventieth year of living. Then I got the idea to organize a FOOLS FEST around the week or the weekend of October 30, 2011. I invited Franki Anderson to facilitate Fools workshops together for Fools from past and present and to share this event with everybody.

I met Franki in 1980 in Utrecht, where she gave a workshop organized by Etha Struyck. Franki taught me juggling three bean bags and she showed me how to fabricate those bags themselves. I also had the honor of her tutorship to do a number of fearsome acrobatics.  Read more »

Summing up November 2011

FOOLSFESTWEEKWORKSHOP

Twenty-one fools on the weekversion of the FoolsFest2011 workshop. Between 10 and 17 hard work was done: again lotsof drama, choices between the themes Franki and I offered, after an individual weathercheck of each participant in the circle made clear what the needs were. Lots of fun, some tears and every day ended with a wee half hour in which Franki and I prepared ourselves for our show on the 29th ...

FoolsFestWeekend a success!

Twenty people took part in the OldFoolsYoungFoolsFest2011 weekend workshop. We worked on finding the zero spot, solo's, sound and more solo's. A finale with two Fools Choirs. Very difficult to explain what happened inside the Djoj Building. Four participants decided to move on to the weeks workhop, which started today. More new to follow!

Poster

Next step: Moniek Meinders (Rotterdam) has been very busy working on a special poster for our OldFoolsYoungFoolsFEST2011 and with thiswonderful result! Thank you ever so much Moniek. We will attach it to the next mail updat and of course a good number will be printed. The workshops are fully booked, now we go for the Gouvernestraat-theater on Saturday evening and the Open Fools Plaza with hopefully a great finale on Sunday 30th.

Confirmations on their way to the mailbox

Today the confirmations for the weekend and the weekworkshops go into the mail. The fresh bankaccount is ready to receive the registration money. A few interested will let me know their final decision to participate. But for now the list is complete! After my wrestlingmatch with the printer all envelopes will find their way to the respective fools. I am going for a bikeride now, enough office work for an old fool.

Content

This morning skype meeting with Franki and DJOJ. During weekend and week there are two spaces available. Franki and I will both do the facilitators job: so there is twice as much place, people on the reservations list, move on to the participantslist. Enrollment for both weekend as weekworkshop is open again.
For the Old Fools Young Fools Open Space Ray wrote a marvelous invitation, that can be found also on this site.
And Franki came up with a name fort the Fools Show on Saturday: 'Reint & Franki Show, with guests!'
Great times for my organizing mask.

Holy Mackerell!

This goes much faster then I ever thought! All weekend and weekworkshop places filled and I haven't even done a proper mailing to all the fools I know ... And Franki is doing a workshop in Exeter, so I have to wait until next week to see if we can find a solution for this situation. Anyhow, tomorrow I will do a Fools Sunday in Rotterdam, so will stay away from my computer and the internet. So I am on hold for a few days.

Final website check

Almost completed, the website. Yesterday and today I made calls to everyone, who had showed an initial interest in participating. I asked them to help me to see if the website was clear and to use the registration formular if they wished to attend. So correctionbs are being made, the first enrollments came in. A FoolsFest2011 bankaccount is being set up. And the Fools Show on October 29th, will definitely be in Theatre The Lantaren, Gouvernestraat 133, Rotterdam. This is going to be great!
